Out with Joy Spring

Joy Spring is my Michael Storer designed Goat Island Skiff. A light, fun and very versatile boat that I enjoy sailing whenever I have the opportunity. Its lightnes and utter simplicity makes it ideal for a keen sailor like myself who happens not to have too much spare time .... The boat is launched by hand and rigged in minutes.
The day when this short video was taken, conditions were interesting. 25 knots onshore wind making launching and sailing off a stimulating challenge.
Good fun altogether!

Out sailing....

I celebrated the end of the lockdown with a three day sail to the local Hyeres archipelago. We were two boats out sailing together, Astrid my own JW Pathfinder and Olis a friend's Goat Island Skiff. Sailed out heading east towards Porquerolles island beating into a stiff south east breeze. We stopped for the first night under our boom tents after sailing 26 miles in the bay of Giens. The following day we reached Porquerolles for a beach lunch, then headed back towards our bay close to Sanary. We overnighted under boom tents again close to the Paul Ricard islands, then spent the last day sailing in our usual waters. 60 miles altogether. The Pathfinder with its slightly increased yawl rig performed really well and was following very closely the light and fast GIS and often leading the way.
